Metro World Child is dedicated to serving boys and girls in the roughest circumstances and environments around the globe. We serve children through weekly Sunday School services, child sponsorship programs, special outreaches to meet physical, educational and spiritual needs, and weekly home visits.
In the inner city neighborhoods of New York, as well as in countries across the globe, Metro World Child presents the message that transforms young people. The concepts we have developed are being duplicated all over the world because they are based upon sound biblical principles that transcend cultures, denominations, race and generations.
Based on the principle that it is better to build boys and girls today than to repair men and women tomorrow, Metro World Child reaches over 150,000 inner-city children and their families in New York and around the world. Each of our programs are founded upon the life-changing power of the Gospel, and purposefully designed to break destructive cycles, to give children the hope they need to create a new path for their lives.
We believe that relationships and meeting physical needs are important, but only the redemptive power of Jesus can truly changes lives. For children living in hopeless situations, the love of Jesus brings hope, joy and peace and provides a foundation that cannot be shaken. Our Sunday School programs are the core of our ministry, where many Metro children have the chance to meet and receive the love of Jesus for the very first time. And in all we do, we share the message of Jesus with children, speaking truth into their lives about who they are and who they can become through the power of Christ.
One-on-one relationships with the children and families with whom we work are the heartbeat of our ministry. Our staff live in the neighborhoods they serve and make regular home visits to the children on their bus routes or in their villages around the world. Being present in the communities we serve allows us to seek out ways to help meet the spiritual, physical and educational needs. For children coming from backgrounds of abuse or abandonment, the consistent care and attention that Metro staff offers is often the simplest, yet most meaningful, demonstration of love we can give. The accountability of these relationships also helps keep kids coming back to Sunday School week after week.
Metro World Child exists to bring hope and joy to children today, and change lives for tomorrow. Through the life-changing power of Jesus, children’s lives are impacted now, so they may become leaders and witnesses to the next generation later. By teaching children moral and life principles from the Bible, we help set their lives on the right path early. As Metro children grow, we offer Worker-in-Training programs, allowing committed teens to be involved in the ministry. We currently have many staff who were once children involved in Metro’s programs. Each are living testimonies to the power of Christ in a child’s life.
